We've come a long way in a short time. I shudder now to think about what we had as child restraints when I was a kid (and had younger brothers).
A bassinet held in with a couple of straps screwed into a parcel shelf with no anchorage points....
Cheers,

Mick

After my head on in my 2010 Hilux where the curtain airbags probably saved my life (or at least saved me from a head injury) I remember thinking "what if I'd been in a Holden". Until I bought my Cross8 (which the Hilux replaced) I had nearly always had a HQ-WB as a daily driver, I had skipped all the other 80's and 90's stuff but had driven a VSIII and VY SS for a while in between Holdens, but neither of those had curtain airbags. The guy that hit me was in a VZ and ended up in an Ambulance. At one stage I drove my '57 Chevy around a lot and it didn't even have seatbelts! So Mick is right, vehicle safety technology has come a long way and is one of the major reasons why we have less deaths by car today than we did in the early 70's despite there being an awful lot more cars on the road.
