I have visited America over the years on a number of trips. I love the American people and their country. It is hard to reconcile that under Trump, this country is fracturing on so many levels, with so much damage occurring to their governance system.
How long before the American people reject this autocratic style of government?

We don't really want political debate on the forum, but I believe the USA's problems began decades ago, long before Trump.

Also depending on who you talk to over there, some say Trump could be part of the solution not part of any problem. A very polarising bloke, with some good ideas & some bad, all we can do is watch.

It always amazes me how so many people call the USA America. And people from the USA Americans. Normally people who live in the USA! Canadians are Americans, so are Mexicans, Columbians, Peruvians, Brazilians etc. They all come rom either North America, South America or Central America!

I deal with numerous yanks every day, as part of my work. It seems to be a bit of a regional love/hate for Trump.
The guys I know down in Kentucky, Texas, and other southern areas seem to like him (well, as put by one, he was a better choice than Hillary for them).
But the guys up in Connecticut, Boston, and across in Chicago have no time for him. The only ones I find who are mixed are the guys I talk to in Utah & California.

He has made some popular decisions - some that our government would never dare to try, for fear of rocking the boat.
Terry quoted the best word to sum him up - polarising.

We hear democrat/liberal/republican terms thrown around in our media, but the problem is many Aussies probably don't understand that liberal over there is not the same as the Australian Liberal Party - liberal in the US literally means liberal spending, and creation of a socialist population, as opposed to the capitalist view of the Libs in AU.
Cheers,

Mick

The best description that I've heard is when they say "small L liberal".

The Liberal party in Australia started out as a middle of the road party, somewhere between the Labor party on the left & the Conservative party on the right. Over the years Australia has gone to the left overall, so the Conservatives are now very thin on the ground & the Liberal party has become the new right.

Having said that the Labor party has had to move closer to the centre to gain votes as well. It seems us Aussies don't really like extreme left or right in their politics.

Too true Terry. But if you came from afar and just watched, listen to or read our media you’d think this was a country of far left or far right with no-one in between. Whereas the reality is very different.

Yes, but that's the fault of our biased media. But that's another story for another day.

Dr Terry, I believe you are completely correct when you say USA’s problems have been gestating over decades.
However I don’t consider Trump has been genuine about any effort to unify the population in a bipartisan manner.
Thanks for the discussion.

I don't think that is part of his agenda. I think he has an "up yours" attitude to the existing establishment. This is the reason he is so popular with so many people.

They believe that they have been shafted by their bureaucracy for so many decades.

Trump is the best president ever the USA has ever had and is turning the Nation around as it was only being run into the ground by the last two total morons Presidents that's for sure, not even an enemy could bring on such destruction as they have created for the USA.
They just had a President before Trump who no one knows who the fuc- he truly is for f sake ! talk about insane and the Media went way out of it's way to hush such all up and the Media is insane making lies about Trump that would make even the Nazi propaganda minister Gobbles blush.

The Media is 90% owned by the Talmud Zionist Jews the same bastards who the Nazis were in bed with in fact and I know it for a fact that this mob went about killing the German Jews who were the only ones who truly understood such bastard game plays in depth and so them true Jews were a real threat to the Talmud Whore as such and that's why they got rid of them.
Jesus pointed such out as not true Jews but that they were of their Father, of lies who was a murderer from the beginning. these bastards enslaved people all through history in fact, yep owed all the ships that brought the nigger slaves to the USA and they created Communism and all the Nazi BS, yep they orchestrated the whole thing.

look at North Korea it has been propped up with USA tax payers money for many years or it would of failed many years ago and look at the so called State they call Israel, yep USA tax payer propped it all up all through the years or it would of failed.
look at China that was all propped up with USA investment mainly, only to take advantage of cheap labour and sh1t working conditions because they can exploit such people. but all at the cost to the USA working middle class that is being wiped away and all that they have now is the very rich and the middle class is gone to shit, they are enslaved in debt that they can never get out of and the very rich pay f all tax. not to mention all the chumly's bumming their way through life are the ones who hate Trump, it's Oh no ! I will be made to work for a living and be accountable for my self. what a disaster ! Trump is a threat to all imbeciles across the nation.
If the USA does not drag it's way out of the Debt they are fooked, it's sink or swim, or China will walk all over them and this is what all the imbeciles don't understand or they feel that Communism is going to fee them. but the fact is such only enslaves all under a total moronic insane person who is happy to kill any one regardless, be it climate change, ok we have to kill 100 million ok. fine, done deal.

I reject your synopsis, you have not backed up your conviction with anything that is irrefutable

Good day to you

Thanks Liquefaction, I must say I am not putting forward a synopsis and I don't have a conviction I am trying to support. My comment and rhetorical question was just that. I have an interest in US politics and would be pleased to discuss US politics at length (this is definitely not the forum)
Thanks.
