Hey guys just have a question about putting my nine inch into my HQ toner. I have never done a conversation and am quite new to this. (Chippy by trade)

I currently have a stock 9 inch. I understand that my 9 inch is off centre. What is the best way to line this back up with The Holden engines trans. Can you simply attach off centre and drill out for Holden stud pattern? I’m assuming not. What would be the best process?

I aslo have a set of Ford disk breaks, can these be converted to Holden brake system easy enough?

Sell the housing and axles, keep the centre. Get a diff shop to make you up a new housing and billet axles to suit the centre that will bolt straight into your HQ including using the HQ brakes. You’ll need to get a tailshaft made to suit too. This way you’ll also use proper 1-tonner rear bearings.

In the past you’d modify the housing, redrill axles, adapt the Ford brakes to the Holden setup etc. Simply not worth it today.

Being a One-Tonner having the tailshaft off-centre won't be a problem. I assume this rear axle is from an XB or XC, because it has disc brakes.

The cheap conversion would be to weld spring pads to it & simply run Ford pattern wheels. Problem is the Ford rear brakes are crap & the rear wheel bearing aren't much better.

As HK1837 has said, keep the centre & the middle part of the housing & run the Holden axles & outer axle tubes. The Holden axles have the same spline & fit straight into the Ford 9-inch centre. This means you have standard Holden brakes & GM stud pattern wheels. The only welding required is to the axle tubes. This also places the tail-shaft closer to centre.
