Hi All , I don't know if this has been discussed before , but anyway . At the Holden National Show last weekend we noticed the cut-out on the left inner middle section of an HQ bonnet . Looking at other HQs some had it and some did not , but at HJ onwards all seemed to have it . Then we came across a very original Chevrolet 350 with the under bonnet sound insulation and it had a same cut out in the insulation , which appeared to be to clear the hot -air valve fitted to the air cleaner ( it was a late emission engine) and also it had a cut-out in the insulation above the fan shroud. Thanks Mark.

All early Hq's did not have the cutout section on the bonnett bracing but when the later hq 350 engine was intruduced with the preheat valve on the top of the aircleaner snorkel the bracing did not clear the valve hence the need for the cutout,so all hq/j/x/z bonnetts had this modification.
