Anyone got any idea on how much it would cost to modify a VS commodore diff to bolt into a HK, and a good place to get it done?? Cheers.

The VS is too wide. Put a VL or VN 4 pinion in. The track is nearly identical which saves a fortune in not having to shorten it. All you need to do is grind of all the brackets and hand over both housings for the diff guy to reweld on the HK brackets

Hi Guys.

You mention the VS rear axle being too wide for the HK, yet the VL/VN was OK.

I was under the impression that the VL was much narrower than the VN & all VN/VP/VR/VS (non IRS) were all the same.

Do you have the actual dimen

I don't have the measurements but the VN has the same track as the VL which was one of the complaints about the VN. Th VP onwards have a wider track. The VL borg warner is the way to go. I say VL as the ratio is 3.45 where as the VN won't necessarily

The VN & VP have the same front track width as the VB-VL, the front was widened with the VR.

The rear of a VN is 40 or 52mm wider (can't remember which at the moment) than a VL, and as Dr Terry noted, the VN-VS live axles are the same width.

For what it's worth the VR diff is almost exactly the same as a HQ, within a couple maybe 5 mm. I have measured them for my conversion.

I have done this conversion into a ht using a vp Diff. Works really well and the interceptor rims fit under the guards nice. Did all the welding ect myself, but should have used a jig to stop diff from warping. I dont know if it did warp but have had no
