I have a 98 5litre v8 vt and was wondering on the cylinder bolt nuts if on the threads i could use non genuine headstud sealant, the holden stuff costs 50 dollars. Could i use any locktight and which ONE speicifically is good to seal the nuts. Is after lock okay or some other locktite. Is there something else i could use and what stregnth is required. Thanks.

I purchased genuine GMH sealant at my local super cheap store....cost me $18.......I believe it`s still the best head bolt sealant you can buy.
