DOES THE COMPUTER FOR THE VN/VP 5L DETECT THE AUTO TRANSMISSION? CAUSE I WANT TO PUT A 5.0L IN MY HZ BUT RUN A TH400 BOX. WILL THAT GIVE THE COMPUTER THE SHITS?

Hi Daniel,
Im using a TH400 with Delco 808.
I think we are covering old ground again here, but last advised you to get a VSS from the kalmker guys in perth.
these compensate for the divide by 5 VSS pulse present in VN.
you can then run

I THINK YOU ARE THINKING OF SOMEONE ELSE CAUSE THERE IS ANOTHER DANIEL ON THIS FORUM DOING A GEN 3 CONVERSION, BUT I'M GLAD TO SEE HE HAS THE MONEY!!!. BUT THANKS ANYHOW THAT HELPS. IS A DELCO 808 WHAT THE COMPUTER IS CALLED IS IT?

As far as I know the Auto transmissions didn't become controlled by the ECU until the VR.

Yes. You can get them cheaply out of any VN/VP or even out of the late EFI Camiras. Last one I bought was $25. You will need to fit a new Memcal though. I like the SV89 memcal as it has a knock sensor function.

All my wiring diagrams show the provisions for TCC but i really dont know if the TH700's in the VN had it wired in as such.

The Delco 808 is common to VN/VP,Camira and some Astras.The computer can only unlock torque converter (speed limiter).You should be careful when removing memcals ensure computer is unpowered.Just a note to Byrons last comment,when considering using knock
