i have a VS series 2 which has done 200k. it is using excessive fuel, about 7L per Km on a good day. i can sometimes smell fumes from inside the car and around teh back. i have spoken a machanic and he said it is probebly the fuel "out" like, i dont know where this is, however i can smell peterol around where it is. any help would be great! thanks

There's a few lines running from the top of the tank inlet down to the tank itself. Check for loose or weeping connections on the tank end and it may solve your problem?

I know the earlier commodores VB-VL had probs with perished lines on the breathers of the fuel tank. These would cause fuel leaks and smell when the tank was filled.
