Hi As the name suggests, the HQ is not the daily drive. That belongs to a 94 Camry, owned since new, ultra reliable, comfortable, boring etc but is getting a bit long in the tooth. 2004 VY II Commodores with around 40000 K's are in dealer yards in Brisbane for approx $20000. The couple I've looked at are clean, tidy vehicles which seem to make for exceptional buying. So whats the catch? Was the model an unreliable dud or is this the price the market pays. New they were over $30 grand!!! Many thanks for any info. John

Hi John,
The VY2 was the last with the 3.8 Ecotech motor. These have been around since 95 and are generally very good and a lot more economical than they have any right to be.
You have to remember that very few Commodore Executives are sold privatel

As well as what Dave has noted, the VY2 is really the "sweet spot" of the current recent model 2nd hand market, as there is a wave of ex-fleet & govt ones coming thru onto te market now, all with 40-60K on them, so the price drops accordingly.

Hi Mick,
What fuel gauge issues are there in VY2's? Are you talking about some people running out of fuel, so Holden recalibrated the gauge to read empty with 10 - 15 litres still in the tank?
My VY2 SS ute tells me it has no fuel left but will only

Great car, good value for money. My only gripe with the VYII when released was if you ordered leather trim you had to buy it in a stupid 'pack' that included climate controlled air. I think this 'pack' was over $2000 on a ute. On the VY ute leather trim w |

Byron, I know what you mean...the pack was leather and climate and was about $2400...I didn't want the leather as I let my dogs in Edited by user Monday, 16 January 2006 10:42:26 AM(UTC)
