Hey all, im always thinking (maybe too much), but ive got my hands on an excellent condition UC Sunbird which im now gonna use as a daily driver while i finish my current UC up. I am going to slot the freshly built 179HP in between the chassis rails of the new UC and build a completely different motor for my current one.

What i was thinking was maybe a 327ci V8 and Jerico *spelling* 5speed (or Supra, but jerico is stronger), if not the 327, i had an alloytech in mind! With a 6speed manual and 3.9:1 nine-inch... Its gonna be off the road for a little while (maybe 6months), so i have a while to locate and/or rebuild the motor.

What's everyone's thoughts???

go the chev, far less trouble. if you want injection you can always put a TPI manifold on it

yeah i agree with dylan!
but does it matter if it is a 350 or 327??
if you want a 327 make sure you get one with a small journel crank they rev a hell of alot harder then a normal! my dads mate used to own one and it had alot of work done to it and it

Donno about the cost of the Jerico... Looking at this stage! If a Supra box is capable of doing the job, then ill get a Supra box for a lot less money!

The 327 sounds good because its not a 350 or a 308 like everyone normally goes - its a bit differe

I like the Chev idea, but it will be heaps easier for you to fit a Holden V8. I'm thinking a red 308 block, with a 3.48 inch stroke crank, new H beam 5.7" LJ Chev rods and 383 Chev pistons. Throw on a set on VN heads, a Redline manifold and a new

Hey Keith,

Before u do it, get a letter from the RTA saying they will register it (with a suitable engr cert)! Even check with an Engineer as well. That is if you want it on the road.

Do the legal stuff 1st its easier than doin ya $$$$. Been there

remember to after june july mod plate cars wont be aloud to have rego.... unless u pay through your arse....for certs certs certs thats in QLD not sure for rest of OZ the hod rod seen in growing bigger and bigger everyweek u can still put up

A mate of mine had a 327 in his LX it was registered as a 307 for simplicity reasons because it started off as a 307 then got bored to 327 (later it was stroked to 350) The rego plates were always "LX-327" & the rego boys used to ask him what size engine

I got told that the UC's only come out with 308! that maybe a problem to get it on the road. make sure you check with ya transport department before you buy.

Actually, UC's only came out with a 1900 cc 4 cylinder, 2850 and 3300 Red Motors. No V8 was available in them as Holden wanted people to buy the V8 VB Commodore.

You can't be serious - a worked 202 sounding better than a 350? Each to his own I suppose. You have obviously never driven a worked 350.
