Why do you want more oil around engine?????
my experience with these pumps in race use with standard sump is it will empty out sump and put a lot of oil in rocker cover area mainly in holden v8 and sixes because they have small return holes in head,GMH s

Thanks Steve, I dont want to spend money on something that will be detrimental to the engine!
That is why I thought I would find out what you guys that have done all of this before.
Is it then the same to be said for an oil cooler set up?

Hi
I presume your talking about oil cooler for the engine?
for normal day to day driving there would be no benefit, they are more suited to engines that at high load and revs for long periods of time ie bathurst or speedway etc, for normal road cars very

Hi VZ, is the problem with the high volume oil pump that it is will put more oil in the heads and empty the sump?

If so do you think this will be an issue if
a)it has later model heads such as VN or a Yella Terra etc?
b)a high volume oil sump also h

Hi Scruff,

I can answer part of that one...you are correct. A high volume pump CAN end up pumping most of your oil up to the head(s) and you end up with not a lot of oil in the sump. Presumably, you will also be going around corners while driving, so t

Hi scruff
engines in extreme conditions and revs with high volume pump will put a lot of oil into top of engine area and with small return holes in heads and high 'G'forces the oil tends to stay up high in engine and as Qute said the oil pick up will run

I'm running a High Volume oil pump on my 179HP, i am also running a standard sump. I have found a few things, and I PERSONALLY would recommend one, but you have a few things to consider first. A few things I have noticed are:

-They run better with th

You should be fine with a HV pump. With the larger capacity of your sump, your oil pickup shouldnt run dry at all! If it does you would be in trouble!!

Hi all,

This topic was also discussed some months ago, and one fellow suggested somthing that makes sense.

You can use the advantage of a high volume Oil Pump to Guarantee a Specific Oil Pressure you want to maintain, " by changing the Bypass Spring
