Hi all,

Just got the new motor (black 202)in the HJ (1 tonner) with the EFI manifold on it - it looks sweet as BUT.....
the manifold and t/b stick up from what I can see, too high to fit under the bonnet!? This is not the good feeling I was expecting..?

I know this convertion has been done a billion times before by probably everyone on here so what's the go??? where have we gone wrong..?

Is it just a case of cutting the bracing out of the bonnet at that spot and it will sqeeze in? or is there another solution that I have missed???

We had to use the red motor mounts as the original black ones were stuffed but looking at the sump clearance we can't see how that is a problem....

Please... any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks all
Void

I found the same problem when putting an EFI motor into an LX. Didn't want a doof doof looking bonnet hump so we pulled it out and put a V8 into it instead. I have seen these engines in HQ-WB's before, but I think they were all HJ-WB bonnets. I can't reme

Thats strange because I have that conversion in the ute it it fitted in using original gear, and I have had HZ front on and now it's got the HQ but the manifold fitted on both. I think it is real close but it does fit under without any panel beating.

Thanks for the replies guys.
We wanted to use the VK mounts but one of them is pretty badly bent (probably during transport?).

The bonnet is the original HJ.

ChrisHQUTE, love your sig by the way... because the bonnet is off I am wondering if it wil

Yep thanks mate, it kind of come to me after I got married. Funny that. I just went outside and put a straight edge accross the guards and with HQ front on the manifold sits 30mm above the guards.

Hope this helps.

I had no trouble with the efi in my HQ tonner. Went straight in even with the air con heater box. Maybe someone has sat on your bonnet?

maybe you need new rubbers on the front end...if they are squashed down the motor would sit higher.
