hey i bought an after market water temp gauge coz the one in my car is stuffed. the new gauges goes from 40to 120 deg celcius, when i fitted the guage and started my car the guage went way past 120, so i wanna know what the running temp of my 202 on gas should be roughly? and if this reading is incorect what could be causing the false reading on the gauge?

Hi your temp should be in the 85-95 area and in traffic it will creep to just over the 100 deg mark, was the radiator hot on upper and lower tanks if not may be a thermostat problem,if thermostat ok may be a stuffed gauge.
if it ain't broke we can impr

under the bonnet was realy hot so i guess both tanks were hot, and the thermostat was recently replaced. and the guage is brand new.

And the brand of the gauge is? Was the correct sender included in the package or have they put the wrong sender in there?
Cheers...Dave

the guage is an auto meter. the sender unit was a but smaller which required me to use a larger sleve over it which was recomended by the salesman at auto barn, i think i'll pop in 2morrow and see what they have to say.

I thought it may have been one of the crappy capilliary ones that cost about $20...
You could run your car up to temp with the radiator cap off and use a good quality thermometer in the water in the top of the radiator to compare readings.
Otherwise
