A friend is looking at buying a Torana that is advertised as an XU-1

Can anyone help with the ID of this vehicle.

Tag says 8D11PCL237965J

Chassis Number is BLJ2219A

I hope these are correct as his writing is hard to decipher.

regards
Darren

Thanks guys. I was at work and access to many sites is blocked. Luckily Fastlane sneaks through the system.

I did a google search and ended up with some info from the Canberra Torana Club that showed 8D11 as applicable to both GTS and XU-1.

Being a 1973 model, the P after the 8D11 gives it away as an XU-1. If it was just a GTR it would read 8D11L. HOWEVER, check it out carefully before shelling out good money. Lots of these have been rebodied, have mismatching plates etc.

Look at the battery tray. its alot smaller than standard to clear the carbie. look under the guard aswell to see if the brace from the brake booster to the inner guard hasnt been moved. XU-1 has the bigger booster. Chrome strips at the top of the door and
