If its factory VL it will be a trimatic. Trimatic has a removable bellhousing. TH350 is a full case box with integral bellhousing, shifts on the passengers side and has a cable kickdown. TH400 is also a full case but has an electric kickdown, and huge out

Hi Guys. Im very interested in this subject of WB utes with factory GTS options. I recently purchased in NZ a 1982 WB UTE with factory 4.2 and M40. It has GTS dash, seats, steering wheel, badges etc that appear to be original. If I post the chasis number,

Grant, probably 40% of all 253 floor shift 2 seater WB kingswood utes were factory fitted GTS dash.
You cant really tell from the ID whether it was or it wasnt.

I think RHYS should be the WB guru.!

There are no GTS options as such on WB. You could order them with full instrument dashes which is basically the same thing as a HZ GTS dash. The steering wheel is the same thing as a HZ GTS, but it is also the same as an LX and UC from the same era. Was a

I have seen many WB utes with GTS dash factory,
especially L36,M20 WN 80 body.

In mid 1984, the kingswood bucket headrest changed and had a hole in it like the VK calais.

That is what I said. Pedantic I know, but what I was getting at is there were no "GTS" options in WB. The full instument dash happens to be almost the same as the dash in a HZ GTS (the instruments are no doubt exactly the same). It is also the same instru

Grant,
There is no way to tell from the VIN and body numbers as to what options the WB utes/vans came with, as Adam has said. Unless you know someone at Holden that can pull records from that time.

Its quite easy to tell if the dash has been fitted l

81837 it sounds like you have a fully optioned WB Kingswood ute there. What are the strips on the rear bumperettes, I havent heard of this before? I think the colour may be Cameo yellow if it is the light one, Jasmin yellow was earlier than WB.

Hi and a big thankyou to the guys who replied with useful information. Its handy to know that the GTS badges are not from the factory.
The codes are L36 and M40 for engine and trans, does Trim 1989-63V tell us anything about what the factory interior

The Statesman badges would have been added later, and im almost certain the power windows would have been too. Those side rails have been around for years and from memory they were a factory option and most likely dealer fitted, but possibly fitted afterw

The diff, I realise from the code it should be a 3.55. However Ive done the rotation test and it turns out its a 3.08 LSD. It revs at about 2400rpm at 100km/h (unsure if speedo is 100% accurate). Did the WB Commercials EVER come out with a 3.08? I thi
