Guys
I gave the CV8 a run over the 1/8 at Wellington on the weekend at the annual Ford vs Holden day. I ran it stock standard with spare, CD stacker full etc. Best it ran was 9.88 with traction control off and power mode selected on the auto, manually shifting. Tyres were at road pressure. Exhibited very little wheel spin. My question is, does anyone have any ideas about how this would translate into a 1/4 mile time? Just wanting to compare it to low 14's as quoted by motoring press at the time of release. Car is a stock auto V2 series 1 CV8 with 32,000kM. Only thing non standard is it now has different tyres to the original Bridgestones. |

Hi Byron Mate I once heard that to calculate the two times went like: Your Time (1/8), Then add one full halve of that time to your Original time(1/8) So it would be: 9.88 + 4.94 = 14.82 But its only a guide. But close to what you where qu Edited by user Friday, 17 March 2006 5:29:16 AM(UTC)

Sounds about right. I know my mate's HK GTS runs consistent 8.00's over the 1/8 and it used to pull high 12's over the 1/4 but with less sticky tyres and surface. I think a V2 CV8 auto would be slightly better than 14.82 (say 14.4) over the 1/4 as they ar Edited by user Friday, 17 March 2006 7:10:45 AM(UTC)

Yeah I would think the Lack of bottom end would see the Times with slight differences then the Above guide For sure.
Leaving the Line Harder would see the Heavy Girl dropping the times as you stated i would think. Or More so learning how to do it with th |

I no a bloke who has a monaro i dont no what type but it has a gen 3 and a six speed manual and extractors and exhaust and it runs 14.2 on the qaurter

Turning the traction control off doesnt increase your 1/4 mile time. If you get wheel spin (as you would in a v8) it loses more time compared to traction control being on.

Here's a link to a site that has a conversion chart. http://www.rangerpowersports.com/tech/?p=10I believe most people use 1/8 mile time multiplied by 1.56 and I think the avove chart would work out close to that.

Traction control is going to alter timing or reduce torque to the rear wheels to prevent wheel spin, so yeah, it will affect your time card, particularly when u only have 1/8th mile to get boogying. leave it off and as mentioned above- control spin by th |

Most traction control will be altered via the engines timing. So it will effect times. How consistent that will be will be questionable of the track and many other conditions on the day.
Experimentation would be the Go. Like first taking everything out |

Look on the site for Warwick Raceway. They have a chart that converts 1/8 to 1/4 mile times.
In my commodore the traction control pushes the accelerator back off. It's a V8 berlina.
The best times, with regard to traction will be no spin of course, but
