hey guys, am dreading putting on a new ring gear onto my v8 on the weekend, any tips. i am disassembling it from tailshaft forward, gearbox, and clutch etc. too much effort to take whole engine out. any tips on actuallu removing the old ring gear, or putting the new one on. i was told,, to heat the gear up and chill the flywheel. i have told this works. any tips would be appreciated! thanks enjoy the weekend!

set it up so the flywheel is off the ground and it will be stable so you can heat the ring gear and drive it down with a drift....you can either heat it and drive it off and flip it over to save you some $$$ or just heat the new one up and drop it on but

Cut the old gear with a hack saw kust through to the flywheel DO NOT cut into the flywheel, just stop a fraction before. Us a chisel in the saw cut and belt it with a hammer it should loosen. Shine up about 3 spots around the new ring gear with emery pape
