I just bought myself a HT GTS monaro less motor and gearbox. I know it came with a saginaw 4sp as there is a hump on the tunnel where the linkages go. However what motor would it have come out with? GTS Monaro 4 -70 model - HT80837 Body - 043441m Trim - 1193 10x Paint - 56711425
thanks

253 or 308. Does it have a 12-bolt hump? Look in the boot at where the front of where the fuel tank bolts to the body. The hump will be obvious. If it's flat it will have been a 253 (most likely combination). If the hump is there it's a 308. |

Thanks Byron. It doesn't have the hump. Does this mean it would have come out with a Banjo diff if 253?

Spot on. 253 Saginaw was the standard fare for a HT 837. Early on they were also available as a 307 auto. Mid model the powerglide became available on the 253 and the 308 replaced the 307 as auto or manual. Late in HT the trimatic replaced the powerglide. |
