I have one of these carbys on a red motor, with a 186s aircleaner, how do i tell if it is a genuine 186 carby or a 253 one?

It came off a torana with a six.

If you have a look at the picture (web address above) the carb is on a six not an eight cylinder manifild.

many people have put a 253 ww carb on a red six.
there is 2 different numbers on the carbs somewhere that tell the difference, i just dont know which number is which

Anthony i think physically they look the same, obviously the jetting woiuld be different, 253 ones sell for anywhere from $20 upwards on E-bay, So it is quite important to know the difference, I unfortuanately do not know how to tell the difference

Can you post a picture of the other side of the carbi please. There are a few different linkage set ups for a 186S WW Stromy depending on whether it had a powerglide, trimatic or manual behind the 186S. Not sure about the 186S to 253 differences though.
