Power steering pump interchangeability

Any of you guys know if a Vn V6 power steering pump can be used on a V8? I am curently using a VN V8 pump on my injected HX and want to know if a v6 one could be used instead?

v6 and v8 pumps are totally different but u can use a hq to vh 6 cyl pump

Can't see why one couldn't be adapted if you got the pulley sizes correct and made your own mounts. The V6 pumps obviously work with the standard power steer box when they do the V6 conversions to H series Holdens.

from the looks of the pumps id say the V6 pump housing is the same as what is used inside the the V8 pump. only difference being the resivour is remote mounted .

The VN V6 pump is the same internally as a metric pump off of the WB-VC series up (can be identified by the word metric cast in the pump pulley shaft housing). So if you want to fit the V6 pump and retain the V8 vee belt set up you will need to change the

Thanks for the info TWODOGS. Good guess but not exact lol. I was thinking of mounting the alternator on the right so i could put an aircon pump on the left were the alternator should be.

Another option could be to do the same set up like the HK-G power steer and air con set up (They had the aircon compressor above the power steer pump on the RHS and had a remote resorvoir mounted on the the radiator support. The pump housing was the same

Thanks for the info Twodogs. I have a spare pump and housing in the garage so i think what i might do is remove the resivor from the housing and weld in a plate to fill the hole up. Then i will mount a remote resivor off a camry(i work at toyota so its |
