a friend recently purchased a 253/4spd HT GTS. He wants to know whether or not he can replace the Banjo diff with a Salisbury diff? He's car doesn't have the hump before the tank. Also can a Salisbury diff from a HT ute fit in terms of dimensions?
Thanks

The diff will go in without the salisbury hump, and yes all HTs have the same dimensions.

As Warren says, no probs. The hump is there for a 12-bolt diff. It's not needed for a 10-bolt. |

Was the 12 bolt diff only for bathurst models (ie. 327, 350) or other reasons?

Only for 1837 models, and then only for the manual versions, and only by special order. From what I understand you need the hump for this diff, but not for the 10-bolt, although all 10-bolt HK-HG will have one.
