Hi guys,

Just after everyones opinions on hi stalls as I am deciding if i should get one for the van.

Have been told that they are crap by some and will only waste fuel and even help burn out the box in a street car by some and that they are the best thing since sliced bread by others.

I understand the basics of how they work and that they will use more fuel but not sure if i should get one and if so how big? But not how they help burn out a gearbox.

I have a standard converter for my T400 but the new engine (308) has a cam with the a power range of 2900 - 5900 and teh 9" is running 3.5 gears, so do I need a hi stall? Teh car will be a street car/cruiser but will have a bit of get up and go.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hey mate,

You said the car will be a street/cruise car so why bother adding a device that primarily helps the car launch?

You would notice a difference going to a 2800/3000 rpm stally and imho you wouldn't find the ecconomy change that much cause

put a 3000 dominator hi stall in, it will still drive good as a everyday car and not use much more fuel. This will fit the range of your cam good. Hi stalls dont burn auto trans out, that only comes from dreamers who dont know what they r talking about. PS

what he said ^^^ i had the same setup, a salisbury 3.55/T400/308 with a slighty hotter cam, had to run the idle near 1,000rpm (in neutral). this was a 12.9 sec motor in a full equipped HZ sedan. with a stock converter from neutral it would really slam in
