I have an EA 3.9 multi point Falcon, My problem is, after car has been running and then left for 1 to 2 hours it is hard to start, motor cranks but wont fire, it sounds like it is running on 2 cylinders. With persistance it will fire & it blows black smoke out of exhaust and will blow light grey smoke out of air box. Mechanic has replaced plugs ,leads and fuel filter. Auto elect has replaced ignition coil and map sensor and still the problem is there. If car has been standing overnight it does not give trouble nor if you start car up within 30 minutes of switching off. Does anyone have any clues as to what may be going on.It is if auto choke is on. Many thanks

EA falcons do not have air flow sensors, they use map sensors. It may be leaking injectors or a faulty fuel pressure regulator. Connect a pressure gauge into fuel system and test fuel pressure when engine is turned off.

Check the coolant tempreture sensor, this richens the mixture when car is cold for easier starting, but when faulty will flood car when engine is hot.
if it ain't broke we can improve it.
Cheers Steve

Make sure that your fuel pressure regulator is not leaking fuel into inlet manifold through the vacuum line
