Hi all, I am re-assembling my Fairlane and have spent this morning aligning doors and the front fender. The car has been in pieces for a long time as I welded up rust and sprayed the door jambs etc prior to assembly. My question is: when I bolted up the front fender there seemed to be a significant gap between the lower fender and the body of the car (this is the bolt underneath that is behind the wheel arch). Should there be a spacer between the body and the lower fender?

Did you put spacers under the guards where you bolt them from the top? this would lift the bottom of the guard closer to where you want it. Have you checked the alignement of the gaurds with the body line of the other panels?

Yeah mate, they are sort of a U shape. When they aligned my guards up the panel beater used those and different sizes of washers to make the gaps and angles perfect. When Ford made these Falcons they could be anywhere up to 1/2 inch or more out from tru

Thanks, I'll grab a bunch and start fitting and fiddling. After that it's off to the spray shop! :)
