Hello everyone ,
I have a Problem with my Sandman Ute. My Fuel Guage is not working properly.

This is what happens .When i fill the tank up it only ever gets to Quarter on the Gauge. So most of the time I know there is fuel in there but it looks as if im running on empty.I pull into a servo & go to fill up but it only takes 20 litres. How many litres does a tank hold?

I know it could be either 2 things

1) the fuel gauge itself (But if it was the fuel gauge then how come it registers Quarter when full)

2) The Fuel sender in the tank,My bro told me that if it is the sender then it costs new about $100 & its easy job to fit ,don't konw if he's telling the truth .

If anyone has an idea on what the problem would actually be & the best way to fix it , Just let me know

Thanks

Rusty B

Hi Rusty.

Go to Dick Smith, Jaycar or similar & buy 2 resistors, a 10 ohm & a 22 ohm. There as cheap as.

Get under the car & disconnect the fuel gauge sender wire & connect the 10 ohm resistor from the wire to a good earth. Switch the igntion on & a

Hi Rusty,

An alternative is to take your gauge and pickup/sender out of the car and drop it into AISAT in Welshpool. When I put the WB Stato dash in my HQ ute a couple of years ago, I had AISAT replace the fuel guage sender unit (on the pickup) and ser

Hi john.

Yes, virtually all gauges work by looking at the sender, which is usually just a variable resistance to earth.

I have made up a full list of all the different sender resistance values for fuel, oil & temp gauges in all Holdens & some 'other

Ive got the gauge sender out of my HZ tank. Measuring the resistance of the sender gives 20 OHMs when the tank is full. This should be 10 OHMs and explains why the gauge only ever shows half full.

Does anyone know if its possible to fix this or do I ne
