my ed 4 speed shifts smoothly sometimes and very rough and jerky other times , i serviced it which only made the jerky shifts slightly better, could this be the kickdown solonoid

Sounds like the S5 solanoid, this solanoid is a variable pressure solanoid. This is the largest solanoid in the trans.This is the most common problem.It could also be a shift solanoid,gear position switch,Valve body warped,throtle position switch,dirty wi

turned out to be s5 should i reset ecu by disconnecting battery or is it not needed.
