Hi. Just in the process of putting a powerglide behind my 6cyl (in a HK) and was wondering what goes to and from the vacuum thing at the rear of the box? Also now my genie extractors foul on the box,is there a difference between extractors for manual and autos in HK's? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Ta.

A vacuume hose runs from the vacuume modulator(that thingy on the back of the box)up to the inlet manifold.

I think you'll find most boxes are a little different in size and will therefore effect your extractors in most of the older cars. Out of interest, is it a 186 or 186S and how did you go about finding a powerglide kickdown rod for it? I need a kickdown ro

It's a 186 with the 186S carby&manifold.The box came with that rod but unfortunately not the vacuum line which I think will be also very hard to find.

Finally got around to see where on the inlet manifold it should go but can't see where?????Is it a different spot for 186S manifolds?

If it is the same as the Tri's. it will attach to the PCV fitting on the rear branch of your manifold. There is a different fitting for auto cars. It has a T piece coming off the side (sometimes at an angle or bent into a "j" shape) so the PCV hose joins

Hi Guys.
Qute, that fitting at the rear of the manifold is for the modulator & the vacuum brake booster, & other vacuum devices like gauges etc. but not the PCV.

Yes the selectors on the powerglide foul on manual box extractors (had this happen when I converted my HD to a p/glide auto many years ago!). You'll need to get auto extractors, they were still made off the shelf in the late 1990s

Thanks everybody. Where my boosters hose connects to the manifold it has no tree just a single fitting for the booster hose, so do I just need a different manifold fitting that will take the booster & G/box vacuum hose? Cheers.

Sorry, Dr Terry, you are right...a slip of the keyboard...I meant to say the brake booster but typed PCV valve...Thanks for picking that up.
