hey guys, just returned my starter motor i just bought. i replaced the old bosch, out of my blue 4.2ltr v8, i replaced it with a new high torque, made bby oz starters. made for all v8's ht - vs. i was surprised. anyway turns out the gear would only engage 1/10 times. bloody frustrating, anyway i thought i would find out why. turns out the gear on the starter was hitting the face of the ring gear, i tried spacing with washers, but no luck. i compared to the old bosch and the was a 5mm differnece in mounting positions. i was so furious at this point, as i was assured the new one would fit. for now i have put the bosch back in, pain in the arse, removing extractors! the other option is i think a 'crv' $300 starter, i dont think so. anyway, has anyone heard of a good quality new starter motor, reasonably priced, if so please let me know. thanks heaps. Andrew

AFAIK red and blue/black V8 starter motors are not interchangeable. You need one for a WB-VSIII I think. |

thats odd, i put the starter from my red 253 onto my blue 308, but i did use the red motor flex plate aswell. but didnt notice an obvious difference in the flex plates.
