I'd appreciate if someone could answer a few questions about heads for Holden red motors.
What does 'decked' mean?
How can you tell whether a YT head has hardened valve seats?
What does the number 7437395 cast into the head tell about the head?
This is probably a really dumb question, but: Is there any way to lower the compression ratio of a head (for example, are there thicker, stronger head gaskets that could be fitted)?

decked means the head has been planed, or machined, to take a few thou off the face. An aluminium head you would only take a few thou off to clean it up because with alloy there ia always the danger you will run into an air bubble that will need welding

My yella terra head (new cast 12 port) had hardened seats in it when I got it, so did my mates one. |

Hi Guys.
I've only heard the term 'decked' used in relation to milling or facing the top of an engine block. Most other similar machining oparations are usually just called milling, facing or just simply machining.
The part number is for a normal 18 |
If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0 |
