Hi, I'm new to the site (new to the whole Ford thing actually) - you see, I've always been a Mercedes man to be quite honest, but after recently thinking about rebuilding my 5.0L Benz from the ground up, I've come to the realisation that it just aint feasible.

Therefore, I have switched my way of thinking and gone in the direction of an old Ford, a '71 ZD Fairlane to be precise! My aim is to buy one in decent nick, and spend a sh!tload of cash to full bomb her out!

Can someone give me some good solid info on this particular car as I've never owned one or driven one, I just love the beasty looks they possess. Info like maximum rim and tyre width under front and rear guards in stock form, genuine parts (mainly cosmetic accessories for interior aswell as exterior) availabilty, and whatever else may be relevant. Special problems or common faults with the car, anything useful which will help with the rebuild.

Thanks in advance, and it's great to be a fellow Ford enthusiast finally!

Cheers,

I used to own a ZC Fairlane. Most parts that interchange with XW-XY Falcons are easy to come by but if it's specific to the Fairlane such as tail light lenses then you are on your own unfortunately.

There is this one: http://allclassifieds.com.au/c/ac?a=vc&i=838833546

The best part about a factory 351 ZC is that it's basically a LWB GT. It has the 290HP 4V 351 Windsor (the only other way to get this engine was to buy a GT Falcon) an FMX trans &

Hello,
The second ad that I listed was for a ZD. Being a Canberra car it's probably got no rust. Where are you & how far are you willing to travel?
