With the prices of good GTS slowly going up and cost of fuel, i'm at a crossroad as to which way i should go with originality. I have an early HT GTS which originally came with 307/powerglide and 10 bolt combination. i have managed to put the car back to original specs except for the motor (has a 350 SBC)and gearbox (saginaw). I'm not into performance (been there done that) so would it be beneficial to put the 307/powerglide combo back into the car, even though the original 307 is in heaven land somewhere?

Hi tanart.

Short answer yes, the more original the more value, especially with early Monaros

Dr Terry.
If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0

Especially being a 307 HT. They are very rare and desirable. Go the 307 I say.

As long as it's not butchered too badly (ie wheel arches, floor etc) and it can be made to look original I reckon you are better off making it as original as possible. What engine number do you need? I have heaps of 307's.

a mate of mine has an untouched original 307 out of a HT which he was going to put in his rod. He want to swap my 350 SBC with money in top for the 307. I think that sounds fair.

Its just I know more than few blokes that have this type of stuff.
Mainly Monaro freaks. Bost about it, either want a million dollars for it, or torture you with it as its not for sale.
"They may need it one day". PFFFFFFFFFFFF.
No nastiness intended

I am selling some stuff off on Ebay at the moment as that's the cheapest and easiest way to advertise it. None of my HK-HG GTS stuff is for sale though as such, but i'm always willing to swap for stuff I need, and that was the next question if Tanart was
