Hi all, I am building a ute and have replaced both doors with rust free units, car is painted and I am assembling. My drivers door as I have just realised is a HQ door. Now Ive built my passenger side up and fitted the window regulator bailey channel etc no worries, But I am having trouble with the conversion and build up of the drivers door. I NOTE THAQT THE HQ DRIVERS DOOR DOES NOT HAVE THE PRESSING FOR THE MOUNTING OF THE FOWARD lower WINDOW GUIDE. So Ive used a spacer to pack out between fwd window guide and inner door skin. I still cant get the glass to run freely up the door frame, Ive moved the position of the fwd guide up and down a few times with the result of a few holes Im going to have to weld up (remeber car is freshly painted) Now I have noticed a couple of things, the baily channel rubber seems to be squashed tight, is the door frame baily channel different in width. The other thing Ive noticed is the uppper triangle area of the fwd glass guide doesnot sit very well in terms to its relationship to the fwd window frame. Ie it would appear that the Q door has more metal thickness at the attachemnt point of the fwd window frame to the actual door. This is the location of the triangular section of the fwd window guide to frame. Causing the upper end of the guide to be positioned more inboard than that of the other door. Has anyone had simular problems when converting Q to J door windows. Yes I have played around with the adjustment cam and replaced the window regulator with a spare, to no avail. Window actually wind up, but does not follow frame evenly until it gets to the top, Window also moves away from the rear track and is very tight, no adjustment will fix. Ive adjusted the position of the fwd guide to where it attaches to the frame about 3/16th to no avail. Window frame is not bent or distorted, any ideas appreciated.

The HQ has the little triangle bit at the bottom leading edge of the window the other models all have it at the top. It is supposed to stop the windows rattling or being sucked out at speed.
The glasses are not interchangeable. They are a different shape
