Hi, I have just bought a pretty decent EJ for my girl and we are doing it up. Now we want to put in a 3.8 from a vn-p commodore and I have a couple questions that I was hoping that someone could answer for me.
I know that we have to convert to the HR front end which isnt a bad idea as we were thinking of buying the stub axles from v6 conversions to run commodore front brakes to go with the diff (ive found a good low km complete car for donor), but what I need to know is whether it is compulsory to change to the rack and pinion or can i stick with a steering box?
We are going to cut the tunnel out of the vn to suit the auto trans and put that into the EJ and then get the vn tailshaft cut down to suit the EJ so thats all pretty easy.
Are there any tricks to doing this conversion?? Im thinking of getting the readily converted crossmember to suit the v6 and by using all the vn bits im hoping that it will all go smoothly
Thanks in advance
Steve

However if you are using the Commodore diff the VN tailshaft uses the same uni j

First hint, DON'T use the V6 conversion front brake kit! The bolt that holds the brake hose to the calliper hits on the top suspension hat, you have to grind part of the hat away and then still weld a spacer to your steering stopper and will lose some f
