G'day all'
I was driving along yesterday and suddenly I had no clutch, thought the cable had gone, but when I checked it the cable was fine , so I got my mate to tow it home( thankfully I was only 3 streets away from home) and took off the inspection cover and lo and behold , somehow the diaphram spring has busted into 3 pieces!. Never seen that happen before, the friction plate wasnt really that worn, the clutch was done about 2 year ago, and I dont abuse it or ride the clutch when cruising or anything, so can anyone tell me what might have caused this and what to look for that may be out of the ordinary when I pull the clutch out tomorrow(oh well, there goes my day off again !) or is it something that just happens from time to time? any advice greatly appreciated.Cheers.Russ.

Hi Russ,

Dunno whether it is common, but I had exactly the same thing happen in a 6 cyl LJ Torana except the Pressure Plate and Clutch were only 13 months old. I changed it and never had the same problem again in the 6 more years I owned the car.
