Hi all. The time has come for me to fit front coil springs to my hz, but i cannot seem to be able to compress my springs enough with my compressor and even if i could it fouls the top tower preventing me from pushing the spring up into its seat. Can any offer some advice? im use to doing leaf springs and air bags not coils.
Thanks

Yeah, original springs are a bugger - and dangerous to boot if they fly out and get you. I like using aftermarket ones as they are generally shorter and you don't need to compress them to get them in - just put them in and the weight of the car compresses |

When I did the front end rebuild on the Qute, I ran into exactly the same problem.... I solved it by putting the compressors upside-down on the inside of the spring with the arms about ¼ and ¾ of the way up the spring so the compressor didn't hit the i Edited by user Tuesday, 30 May 2006 5:31:04 AM(UTC)

Thanks guys. I have tried putting the compressors inside the spring but due to the shape of mine they will not grip, instead just slipping off.
Ive decided to get some after market ones, lowered aswell. Hopefully this will work well

My HQ was easy just fitted the springs with the lower arm fully down and jacked the lower arm up till I could fit the compressor, then tighten the compressor a bit, jack a bit more, tighten compressor, jack a bit more, etc.then finish with the compressor
