In my 253 HZ running std strommie...185 accross the board comp...new electronic dissy, leads & NGK plugs.

When I check for plug electrode colour I get white electrodes on all cylinders except #4, which has a nice bronze colour. on the others they are white (clean) with fawn coloured earth tip?? I hjave the mixture screws at just under 1 1/2 turns out on both but makes no difference?

Any ideas please....as she also has a flat spot at 1500rpm and pinging under load...dissy is set to 4degs advance as i tried to set as per bonnet info but could not get down the road...4 is ok at this stage.
I got a ACA electronic dissy.

Cheers
Darren

The unleaded petrol makes judgment by the colour of the electrodes unreliable. The pinging could be running a bit lean, low float level, blocked fuel filter not allowing full flow of fuel, this also could be reason for flat spot. The dissy set you have to

either a slightly worn ring, or maybe a dodgy lifter/valve?
if its just on one cylinder it can't be anything common like mixture timing etc
