I recall hearing the Series 1 JATCO auto's weren't that strong, but the Series 2 (mine is an early 88 Series 2 motor/box) were good. Don't remember any 4 speed auto's in Datto 1600's though.
Same with hotting the RB30's up, a Series 2 N/A motor is repu

I will confirm that it takes quite a lot of,shall we say "torture",to kill the 4 speed auto. I happen to be quite harsh on my cars sometimes even brutal.
