After all these years I've just got myself a HX V8 'tunna. (my HRPV is now going to be my summer treat !! ) It has a duel fuel new Gen gas system, white needle GTS dash and wheels, 4 spd, HQ prem nose, a 3.08 diff ( going by the jack up-turn wheel\tailshaft method ) and a blue motor - VR421267. After checking through previous posts I know it's a commo motor. I'm just trying to put a few jigsaw pieces in place with couple of questions without trying to sound too dumb :) ( not to hard to do really !! ) Most 'tunna's I've seen have a HQ front, is this a common thing throught the HQ-HZ range ? Mine does have ridges on the cowling panel. Does the blue v8 have a cast ID on the side of the block like a 202 red would have ? or am I looking in the wrong place to ID the capacity ? I am also thinking about going auto, is the bolt pattern the same as a red V8? I will be greatful for any helpful info, Thanks.
There's no pain at all. When I'm Surfing !!

Almost all tonners from HQ to HZ used the HQ type front panels. The HQ ridges are slightly smaller than HJ - WB and are in a different place.
AFAIK, the Blue V8 should have it's size cast into the passenger's side of the motor near the engine mount pla

going by your engine number its a 253 so it will be a trimatic/aus 4 speed pattern block unless its been drilled.. |
