im going to get a blue 202 to replace the red 173 in my LJ torana. will the trimatic that is sitting behind the red 173 bolt straight up to the blue 202?

Hi Quadzilla.
Yes, the Tri-Matic will bolt up, no problems.
You will have to check 3 other things though.
1. You will need to fit the Red motor water pump, because the Blue motor pump is too long & will be too close to the radiator core.
2. Yo |

if the engine had a manual box behind it, do i have to get other parts for the tri matic to bolt up?
1. remove fan and install thermo fan? 2. can i remove the sump from the red and will it bolt up to the blue? to fit to the lj explain minor wiring pl

The sump will bolt straight in. Remember to change the inside oil feed pipe as well,thermo fan is not essential, to fit the auto you have to remove the pilot bearing in the back of the crankshaft. IMPORTANT when fitting the box make sure you rotate the t

Ha actually i just realised you already have the trimatic so all the wiring bit is not necessary.

thanks. it kinda sounds easy enough. although i know the easy jobs can become very difficult easily if you dont quite have an idea of what you are doing.

Hu Guys.
The wiring that I was referring to is the change from the Red motor's points ignition to the Blue motor's HEI electonic system.
Alternator & starter will basically the same depending on whether you are using an internal or external type vol |

Yella Terra make new 12 port heads. They are not reworked or ported originals, they are new cast 12 port with excellent porting that is superior to original. So you will easily find a YT 12 port head for sale. |

really? u can buy 12 port YT heads for a 202. only seen 9 ports.. or are these still made by YT? cus the 9 ports arent

ahh too good. i emailed Yella Terra and they replied yes to 12 port heads @ $1155.45 inc gst. time for me to start saving

Fit a black head they are nearly as good. All you need to modify is drill a few new holes in the block line it up with a black head gasket and it will show where the holes go. block the old holes up. Far cheaper.

Take 40 thou off the head bring the compression up and run premium. more than 40 and the rocker angles are a bit iffy.

Duzn matter the only difference between the heads is the carby one has inlets for the emission control air pump just plug them off. If you are planning major porting these ducts for want of a better word may mean the walls are a bit thin but I haven't re
