Wow some people must have the brains of sheep.
I've been watching the prices of these early Monaros, particularly the HK GTS's and can only deduce that all of the senile old guys are becoming overcome with nostalgia and panic at the same time.
All "classic" cars are expected to gain value over a period of time but the rise in these cars values is disproportionate to expected rises.
These cars used to get reasonable prices for years and represented a fun and affordable hobby that gained a respectable increase in values.
My conclusion is that like a lot of us, these guys have been considering getting one of these cars for years and have been putting it off and now they are seeing the stupid prices being gained on eBay and are now in a panic frenzy!!!!!
Now I've owned a few HK-G cars including an HK GTS Monaro and liked all of them but they are just not that good.
Yeah I know that I'm going to ruffle some feathers but that's going to be by a bunch of you guys that are desparately trying to justify the rediculous price that you paid for that old rubbish Monaro that's been sitting at the back of the wrecking yard or in someones shed with the hay and old mowers lying on it because they couldn't be bothered taking it to the tip or by you guys that feel the need to defend those same guys.
Hey all of this is just my opinion and i'm no one special but why do so many guys act like sheep and only get all enthusiastic for something when they see everyone else getting into it. Just jumpin onto the old bandwagon as grampa used to say.
Why don't you get an original idea and start a NEW "Trend", it would be a lot cheaper.

I understand your point, but my just as valid point in response is 'get a life' and don't post anonomously if you expect to be taken seriously. And look over the fence at the Ford camp if you think HK GTS prices are stupid. Well over $100,000 for an XY G Edited by user Sunday, 18 June 2006 7:28:25 PM(UTC)

I have heard speculation that there is a conglomerate of business men aged around 40 who are buying up all these old cars.
Not the old rust buckets you always see on Ebay but the good stuff.
Like this HK, I have seen this car a few times at shows an

My Theory with these cars is that when these cars were new, the people that are buying them now simply could not afford to own a vehicle like this, just remember that these muscle cars were probably equivalent to a full house HSV Holden today ( 90k )and o
