hi all i'm ne to this so please be gentle with me. i'm trying to purchase an hj 4 door gts monaro.I need to know how to tell if its origional or a kingswwood tricked up. i would like to restore it to origional condition and am prepared to start nearly from scratch. i'm loking at one that has amodel number of HJ8WQ69 body number 180116-A. hope you can help

Well the 8WQ69 identifies it as a Monaro, but that's only one ID plate.
Give us all the details on the other plates and we can try to confirm it further.

thanks for the help.I've only just seen the other plates they are as follows: 8Q69TFL334620J & 1,2,4C,5B,6,7,8,9,10B11,12,14,not readable,16,18,20,21,22A,23,24,25,27,28

That looks like the same car you posted the BODY plate details off in an earlier post. It was a 308, TH400, 3.08 diffed 4-door GTS in Antelope paint (1894) with Chamois vinyl trim (60V). |

thanks for that. what i'm really after is a hj monaro 4 door manderine red/orange, manual 4 speed, with chamois interior. The way i see it is it doesn't matter what it is now but what it was when it came off the line. We had one 22 years back and had to s

On the TRIM line of the BODY plate 1890 is Mandarin red and Chamois trim is 60 with A,B,Z,V,X or Y suffix eg 1890-60X.
On the bottom of the BODY plate L31 is 308 and M21 is the 4-speed. The VIN of a 308 HJ GTS will start with 8Q69T for a 4-door or 8Q37 |

thats great thanks for that.Now i dont need worry what it looks like now i can go straight to the plates and deceide. So anyone know where i might get hold of my dream car i'd prefer to rebuild rather than buy finished. Also i live in SA do i need to take

In some states a gearbox change requires a cerificate and others it does not. The colour will have to be recorded with the registry along with an engine change.
