Hi guys i am putting new carpet (loop pile ) in my 67 mustang and am after a few hints, floor is good except one rear pan has slight rust, ive cleaned everything up and there was lots of hard putty like stuff ( joint sealermaybe?). question is what should i paint metal with to help with rust prevention, should i use a new joint sealer , what should i use for sound and heat proofing ( there was lots of hession fibre matting under old carpet, fitted and about half inch thick but i doubt i can find a replacment like that,so maybe carpet underlay or foam? i thought maybe some sort of thick coating like waterproofing compound or sound deadener may work .Sorry about the long winded question, Cheers

Your right about the thiness but its not over a big area just a hand size, thats why i was hoping for a liquid type thing to increase the thickness of that area. if i cut and replace i will do the whole floor pan on that side, not real sure where the wate
