Are you serious paullyyyyyy? A VN V6 gutless? Compared to what?
In reality, the V6 VN had too much torque for most drivers. Over 90% of their maximum torque was available from 1200 rpm and torque = acceleration...Holden spent big dollars for the VP and

paullyyyyy, the VN SS ran EXACTLY the same V8 as any VN Commodore.
Peak power means nothing on the street, torque is what gives you acceleration and therefore street performance and torque is what VN V6s have heaps of.

also the price , a tidy orig vn v6 will cost you well under $2000,a tidy ss around $5-6000. A couple of years back I saw a VN SV89 in a yard for $12,000 a rare car with a 200 only build.

Qute you may be right about the v8's, but im telling you from personal experience the 3.8 v6 does not go as hard as the ford six’s(as much as I hate fords I must admit it) , that’s the main message im trying to send. Even with minor mods

Sure the VN (VP and VR) motor goes hard and is very economical. I own a VR and get 500 kms to a tank with plenty of flogging. It just depends on how tired the car is and how it has been looked after. |

Depending on the mods to your brothers car, he may have actually reduced his power, particularly if he has fitted a huuuge zhorst and a crappily designed cold air intake.

I run a tired old VN V6 (and have previously run a VR V6). The Falcon XR8 will get by me with a struggle, XR6s dont get there at all and modern Holden V8s hose all over it. I havent lined up against an older V8 at all.

A VN V6 with a 5 speed is or was awesome. I had one until some thug nicked it. It was a rocket sled !
As for the Ford XR6 and XR8 they are good fun too. You wait at the lights get the revs to about 1000rpm plant the foot on the old Trimatic and hit 60k
