I am restoring a HQ,putting a HZ subframe in.I want it to handle well but not ride too hard.What should I keep original rubber bushes and what should I upgrade to nolathane.Thanks for any advice.

I would fit original rubbers to the wishbones etc, but nolathanes or the other brand ones to sway bar. Nolathanes all round are too stiff. There is another brand can't remember what the name is that are not as stiff.

If the genuine GM rubber bushes are still available then use them. Nolathane is probably ok for sway bars,providing you keep the grease up to them, but should be a last resort for suspension bushes.

The sway bar bushes don't have the steel centre. Interesting information tho Brian.

I did the whole Nolathane thing years ago and regreted it. It seemed to wear out faster than rubber and sqeeks like hell after a while.

Hmmm, This is all very interesting stuff, I've been researching the Nolathane thing for a while, and from what I've read - it's the ants pants in suspension bushing. So a bought a couple of bars of 2" stock polyurethane, and have machined my own bushes f

Thanks for your info.I jumped onto Mackays website.They have listings on both rubber and there own`Sure Trak` bushes.However they only list`Sure Trak` for body to chassis mounting.May make it a bit harsh.
