Copy down the topic ID of any you find, and then send me an email using the email link in my profile, and I will get rid of them.

Mick the spammer appears to have attached dodgy links to all the for sale stuff (maybe on Ford forum as well).

For the for sale/wanted forums I agree. Members responding to these are entitled to know there has been some authentication.
However this won't stop the spammers placing posts in the general column, unless there is some software trick to it.

I've been deleting only 2-3 on average in this section, so I don't think it's too much of a prob in here, only the FS section.

Yeah, I deleted about 80 or 90 from the Ford side last night, then discovered that Mick (I assumed and was right) had done the Holden side. Thanks Mick!

We had another episode this morning, I see.

I have spoken to Leith about some tactics to reduce

I don't think its a matter of unregistered users. It's more likely its some sort of hack/spammer type thing. Making it necessary to register to post would eliminate this problem.

I think we might have to make it for registered users only. Whoever the pea brain is he/she needs to be stopped. Pity that we can't somehow nuke his/her PC on a backtrace of where the messages are coming from.

If I recall correctly, the last time this forum went to a system where you had to register to post, it nearly killed the forum. It went very quiet, and it was opened back up again.

New "regulars" usually come from people who lurk and post anonymously

Hi Leith,

Not sure if it can be done, but what about a dialogue box coming up when someone posts anonymously and they have to enter a code - that day's date for example, in Aussie Order not US Order?

That might slow the Spam Bots down without inconv
