I notice that Rare Spares HQ grille insert has a red surround around the lion, but all others I've seen on cars, including my own are silver. Were they all originally red and time has taken its toll on all these other ones, or were there two badges made by GM-H. I was too young when the HQ was made to remember.

If so, which badges went on which year/model of HQ?

Thanks.

I have had my HQ since new and can confirm that when new the surround was red. It started to fade in the eighties and now all traces of red have gone and it appears silver where it was once bright red. If it is anything like mine, then yours may have bee

Hi Guys.

There was only one type of grille lion emblem for HQs. The only HQ variants that didn't get it were the GTSs & the 2 Statesmans. The colours, especially the red, fade over time.

The emblem with the black background & the 'new' lion was fitt

The badges were originally produced with a silver chrome finish to highlight the Lion. Where the original red paint has faded then that is where you now see the silver. Some colours such as the blue don't seem to fade to the same extent.THe new badges ap
