Further to previous posts about fitting HQ or Chevy wheels to Commodores or vice versa, my advice is don't even think about it... with or without adaptors. The slight difference in Pitch circle diameter is enough to cause excessive and dangerous strain on wheel lugs and hubs as well as "working" of the metal around the wheel bolt holes.

One query though...how critical is it to have a perfect match between the car's hub and wheel centre hole diameter, in other words is the wheels load borne mainly by the hub or the wheel studs or a combination of both??

The weight is predominatly borne on the hub itself (spigot).
