I'm restoring a 76 hj gts sedan and have been trying to find out what it's factory options were. Someone told me to get hold of "The monaro Facts". Will this book fill me in with pics, diagrames ect. I'm finding it a bit confusing as everyone seems to have a different view about what the origionals had or could have optioned on them. If possible I'd like to get it as close to origional as possible.

The Monaro facts has no photos, but does list a the options available on an HJ GTS. The first thing you need to do is work out what the car was originally, eg, driveline, heating etc.

Mechanical options are easy, ie air, steer, LSD etc. Other options that are not standard on a HJ GTS eg sunroof, polycast rims etc are almost impossible to 'know' unless you have original paperwork.

Thanks for that info, I will go to the monaro register, also where would I go to get the gauges and clock repaired I'm in Adelaide.

look up VDO in the yellow pages , they used to be on Port road.

RE GAUGE REPAIRS IN ADELAIDE:
I don't believe VDO has a workshop in Adelaide anymore.
I just got my HQ clock repaired at Gaugeworks (formerly Beale Instruments) at Port Road, Albert Park - directly opposite the Cheltenham Cemetery. It cost $99, and

Thanks heaps guys for that info. Just started this mammoth restoration. The whole car will be rebuilt from the ground up. I'm trying to get it as close to origional as possible, so I would rather repair the origional parts that are in it and source then r
