Whats up with the yellow writing in some HQ speedo's? I have a 1974 and mine is all white. What year had the yellow numbers and is the yellow Km/h or M/h. . . . . thanks

AFAIK all HQ instruments had white letting from the factory. The only yellow I've seen were the aftermarket metric conversion faces that were fitted by the 1,000s in the mid 70s when kms were introduced. When these fade from sunlight they li

I have a few HQ speedos with yellow lettering. They seem to have lasted OK.
Also a dual mph/kph one or two.
Ozy they were talking about the lettering not the needles.

I think the outer letters are white and the inner are yellow.
Anyway theres one on Ebay and I was just wondering what the yellow writing was all about. My mates 2door had the same. Thanks

who knows about the different types? I have 3 HQ speedos -standard 120mph , a GTS dash with 125/200 and a 140/220 all with white numbering.

Hi Cloudy,

My guess is the 120 mph one is an early version. The 125 mph/200 kmh is a middle HQ one and the 140/220 is a middle GTS speedo. IIRC, a Kingy (or whatever) that had the GTS dash optioned on it still got the 120 mph type speedo.
