old 202 in my hq has a problem in that it runs at 60 degrees and no hotter. i was wandering if i could use a hotter thermo or if anybody out there knew of a different fix. aready has a manual switched electric fan but even switched off at any thing above 50 ks an hour it runs stone cold.

Check that your temp gauge and sender are "telling true" let it WARM up in the shed (not to boiling hot) then take the radiator cap off (use a rag just incase), grab a thermometer and see what the water temp is. Should be above the 60deg's your getting on

Also the water may not be circulating properly and the area around the temp sensor is not getting hot water. Throw a blanket over the front to get the water to warm up quicker, I would take the cap off before i start it will warm up quicker without pressu

check the thermostat for operation and opening temperature , if you pull it out cold and its open its had it

I would suspect it is ALWAYS open. Had the same issue on my 253.

If its open the whole time and once the car is fully warmed up shouldnt the running temp be normal? If someone could explain this it would be good as i have the same issue in my 253 (assuming its not the gauge.)

When the thermo went the 253 it hardly got past 1/4. Real weird. Thermos must do more than we give them credit for.

kiwihq ...how u goin pal , thermo discussion , the thermostat will only stay in the fully open position when its had it{or fully closed) , during normal operation it opens and closes depending on out side air temp , driving conditions and engine load, the
